Mathieu BERNIER, 44 years old, 28 years of skydiving, 14 years with Aerodyne, + 20 000 jumps and almost 12 000 with Aerodyne.
I did my first jump in April 1995 in Vannes Skydive (West of France). I was a «baby DZ», I grew up on Drop zone following my parents who were skydivers. My father was in the World Team until 1994 for big ways world records, he jumped a lot with Patrick Passe in the past.
I started competition with style and accuracy for 3 years and then start formation skydiving and was selected by the French federation in 2000 in French FS B team.
At the same time, I worked as tandem master and AFF instructor in the DZ where I started skydiving. (I was very young instructor with only 20 years old, it was a very funny period.)
I've had a great career in FS French National 4-way and 8-way teams. I was crowned 4 times as world champion, 2006/2008/2010 (3 times in 8 way and one in 4 way).
In 2010 I won at the same championship 4 way and 8-way gold medal; it was a dream for me when I started competition in FS. I won a lot of European, World Cup and DIPC gold medals too.
A very nice thing I also did is the 400 way in Thailand in 2006. It was an extraordinary adventure. It is one of my best things I did in skydiving with the double title in FS in 2010.
Since 2015 I worked for the French Ministry of sport with the French Skydiving Federation as national FS coach and also in charge of the « French master tandem» system (certification for French tandem instructors).
Since 2015 I coach FS French female, open and B national teams in skydiving and wind tunnel and sometimes I am an alternate for the team like in 2021 in Tanay for the 8 way or in 2022 in Eloy as camera man for the 4 way female team.
My next goal, as a coach, is to win again in 4 way open class (and of course 4 way female…). We work hard for that.
I jump with Icon V, smart LPV 110, Pilot 90 and ZuluX. I also jump with Pilot 124 in wing suit and of course I jump with A2 in tandem.
