I’ve been married to my bestfriend, Amber, for seven INCREDIBLE years. We have a four year old daughter, Jual, who is absolute magic. They are my heart and my world.
I gotta help pay the bills, though, right? So, during the day, I wear my big boy pants as a Financial Planner, and I own the firm, Sage Path Financial Advisors. I’ve been doing it for 17 years, and I absolutely love what I do! It can get a little stuffy, though (sticks up asses, ya know?), so I spent a significant amount of time searching for a hobby that would give me some sort of extracurricular fulfillment and remove said stick from said ass. I played the drums, guitar, I tried gardening, learning how to fly a plane, but none of that gave me the thrill I get when I skydive.
In my continued quest for that thrill, I recalled a tandem I did back in 2001 while attending Virginia Tech (btw, how can I jump in their stadium?). I joined the skydiving club for the cool t-shirt so I could impress girls. But after that jump, I was instantly hooked and enrolled in AFF. I paid my way through college, I was pretty broke, and quickly ran out of money. No A-license for me. So during quest of that thrill, I thought to myself, ”If the only reason I quit AFF at VT was because I ran out of money, I should probably check it out again. I have a little bit of coin in my pocket.” Oh boy…
I had my first tandem in Jacksonville at World Skydive Center and was immediately hooked! I returned the following day to start AFF. The owner turned out to be a fun jumper hater, so I transitioned to DeLand, Florida after about 50 jumps. I fell in love with the drop zone! It's like Disneyland for skydivers! I remember walking around and thinking, "What the hell is an angle jump? Free flying? People can fly on their heads? Ohhhhh buddy!” I've made so many wonderful friendships and love calling it my home! DeLand is a wonderful place.
But, I LOVE traveling to other dropzones. I’ve made a ton of friends in skydiving, and outside of my wife and daughter, it’s the only place I truly feel like myself. I’m kinda weird…safe, though. I’m focused on free fly and angle flying and get coached monthly. I’m obsessed with skydiving, and I’d do it everyday if I could. I want to get REALLY good at it!
- Future goals and events you plan to attend: Anything. I did my first boogie in Skydive Orange and loved it! I have my eyes on the Big Hole boogie in 2025, and other than that, you tell me where I should be going |
